Where do you think John Smoltz will end up? Dodgers? Rangers? Retired on a golf course somewhere? And a question that's about as hard: is he done?

Anywhere but the Rangers. We are young and hungry. We have our veteran pitcher, we don't need a has-been, albeit a hall of famer, but YOUTH, YOUTH, YOUTH, Can you say, Derek Holland, Tommy Hunter, Neftali Feliz, Dustin Nippert, Martin Perez. Nolan Ryan and Mike Maddux have changed the culture. The Rangers are for real. GET READY!!!!

If anybody can resuscitate him, it's Duncan. But he may not have enough time. I guess you could run him out there against a RH-heavy lineup that doesn't have a lot of LH power. Otherwise, I see him sucking wherever he goes.

heading to the dodgers!

The Sox learned the hard way that nobody knows their own pitchers as well as the Braves do. Why would someone else make the same mistake? I hope both Smoltz and Glavine sign one day contracts with the Braves to make a final appearance in a Braves uniform and then retire with dignity.

I think Smoltz still has plenty in the tank. He'll one day retire to the links but as for now, he still has this year and possibly another solid year left in his arm. As a starter? maybe not, as possibly a closer once more? Very good chance for it. As a huge braves fan, there would be nothing better than to see Smoltz continue on... or even have the big 3 go into the HOF together.

Washington Nationals. Makes too much sense.

As a Giants fan, I hope Smoltz lands in LA.

Smoltz is not going to sign with any team that doesn't have a chance, so the Nationals make no sense at all. The Phills could always use pitching help but it may be too much of a risk even for them, I am thinking Dodgers and he will be in the bullpen, the Cards also could fit him in as a spot starter and bullpen help. Any team that is young but

thinks they have a shot at the playoffs should take him....he is one of the greatest post-season pitchers of all time so that won't hurt anybody looking to make a run.

To the Cards. As bad as his overall stats look this season, he has been effective against right-handed hitters (.232 avg, 21/2 K/BB).

Adam D. Marshall
Im a long time Braves fan and if he doesn't go to the BRAVES Pen I hope the Braves light him up in Florida or New York!
August 14, 2009 at 4:10am
Adam D. Marshall
If they do release him look for the Braves to try and convince him to try the bullpen its been their weakness since the break and he could really help the younger guys out in the pen as a coach/player. Then if he can't cut it out there he can retire a BRAVE and everyone is happy.

He has said he would like to return to St. Louis, and they do have a #5 starter spot available. It would benefit both Smoltz and the Cards. I think that where he'll end up.
