Overview
What is the MLK Challenge?:
The MLK Challenge is a model for the MLK Day of Service specifically designed to engage college students in exciting, challenging, and meaningful service in honor of Dr. King.
The day is a day of service, with a twist. Students are placed into groups randomly, service projects ("challenges") are also chosen randomly. The day focuses on educating participants about Dr. King's commitment to equality and social justice, team-building and problem-solving, and post-service reflection.
MLK Day of Service 2009: With a generous MLK Day of Service grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, North Carolina Campus Compact is working with campuses all across the country to implement the MLK Challenge to honor Dr. King through service. Currently, 29 states will host MLK Challenge events on 126 university and community college campuses for MLK Day 2009!!
