It would have been great to have service integrated with mobile phones and laptops so that anyone in a metro area would have access to news and weather - without cellular or WiFi access.
I hope they sell the service to someone else who can help it reach it's potential. Doesn't sound likely though.

Don Goudie So, where to go to get a similar service? I've found MSN Direct a real enhancement to my Garmin GPS

Bram Frank Looking to purchase an unused lifetime subscription card this week . . . . if you have one, please let me know.

Hey Microsoft - Your site has no place to send identified messages or suggestions, so this forum is it.
I understand you are going to stop providing service as of 2012.
I understand the reasons behind the decision.
But you can (and I believe should) sell a prorated 'sunset' subscription to those of us who may wan...t to continue receiving data until you shut the service down.
Charging a one-time prorated $33/year for service that takes one to the end of the service would likely yield some significant revenue and could mitigate some of the bad feelings now starting to swirl about in the forums.
I for one would subscribe based on the fact that for $66 I'd have service until the end.

My personal alternatives are to either buy a 'lifetime' traffic receiver for my navigator for about $89 discounted, or to replace my navigator with one that is GSM connected. For reasons I won't go into here, Garmin won't be selling me any more navigators until and unless they start to get their act together, ...but that's another story.
I suggest moving quickly on my suggestion to offer these new subscriptions - and I suggest that rather than passively waiting for people to discover these changes, you reallly have to do a 'mail blast' to let people know what's going on - the vast majority of people do NOT visit the web site and will be (I'm certain) unhappy when their units stop working and they can't get their refunds, because their credit cards of record will have expired.
It would be nice to actually get a response - calling your CSRs doesn't exactly get personalised, knowledgeable service OR callbacks.více

Hey Bill Rubin, Disappointment over the pulling of the Lifetime Subscription isn't even a close. They Pulled it as I was waiting for Coscto to deliver the product. The ONLY reason that I returned my Garmin 765T and purchased my 785T was because of the MSN Direct lifetime subscription looked very cost effective and appe...aling. I am waiting for them to re-instate the offer within the next three months (during the Trial period) or just return the unit altogether. I may even get a TomTom instead and send a note to Garmin, basically telling them I am not buying their product again because of MSNDirect, although I REALLY liked the 765T and regret returning it for the MSNDirect product. I can tolerate the MSNDirect information being 3-4 years old (Restaurants being closed and stuff) but I find the service useful. But unless you really need the other services, the Lifetime FM Traffic Receiver is FAR superior from a cost and performance aspect.více

Andre Just signed up for MSNDirect with my new Pioneer top of the line AVIC-Z110BT unit. Just wondering why it says it is incompatible with sending Bing maps to gps when the lower pioneer models allows this option? Maybe a firmware update, help would be appreciated.

Adam Zeldin Hey MSNDirect! Weren't the watches supposed to receive the basic information without a subscription? Am I mistaken? My account seems to have expired, and I can't find the coupons I had with my CES 2005 Watch (which I switched to).

Bill Rubin I just noticed tha tthe lifetime subscription option has been pulled. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago so I am good (and lucky) but this is very disappointing.

Bill Rubin So where do we report bugs in the received traffic information? I was in Delaware this past weekend and twice it was showing that I-295 was closed (and it was routing me around it in the case when I was actually going in that direction). It turned out not to be closed. I am assuming that MSN was misinterpreting something that it received from its data provider.

Leonard Pulio I took a test drive with my MSN Direct receiver plugged into my Garmin Nuvi 750 today. I am looking forward to using it with my GPS. There were no traffic issues on my test drive today. Anyone know if the MSN Direct automatically announces on the Nuvi 750 models that there is a problem and if so does it automatically route me around it. Thanks in advance for any info.

David what the heck is the deal with the KNA-M100 from Kenwood for the DNX9140?????? I ordered it a week ago and it said it was backordered and would be available mid-Sept.... Now it says Mid-October.... WTH??????? Why is it so hard to get these????

Carol I get weather, gas prices, stocks, news... all that stuff on my cell phone already; why do I need it on my gps?

Carol When checking traffic, do you have to constantly tap into the MSN/Traffic to get traffic updates, while driving? Am I suppose to guess that there is going to be an accident 10 miles ahead? Isn't there a way for the device to alert you that you are headed towards an accident area?
