We are optimistic! AFT's MetroCard project "optimism" by artist Reed Seifer has been quietly surprising subway riders for the past few months. Read about it in these two great articles: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/1 1/20/metrocard-as-art/ an...d http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/20/nyregi on/20metrocard.html

Millions of visitors to Times Square pass it every day. Some stop to listen, while others wonder about a mysterious low-pitched sound coming from somewhere below the subway grating. Artist Max Neuhaus called it a 'situational work' -- a constant, intense organ-like sound circulating underneath and around a pedestrian ...island in the very heart of Times Square.
