Melanie Fish Back when I was a child my Grandmother would take me to the Island and we could go up on the deck of the Grand Hotel and sit there and sometime we would have lunch in the Hotel Dining room. Now days don't really care to go over there. Nice as a kid.

Dorene Life is good when you can sit on a rocking chair at the Grand Hotel looking out over the water. Everything else just fades into the background.

At the end of each season, about 600 horses depart the Island for their winter pasture in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula. Mackinac Island Carriage Tours and Gough's Livery have farms where the horses are given free roaming access with heated barns and special feed throughout the winter. ...
