Just because school is done for the year, doesn't mean the learning has to stop. One of the best things you can do for your child is encourage him or her to become a lifelong reader. Let the sun shine in!

Berry Picking!
Check out the many Strawberry and Berry Festivals happening across the country from February to June! Pickyourown.org has many festivals listed, plus they have a listing of farms by state that allow you to pick your berries (some farms pick for you, and you buy from them farm-stand style). Also, be sure... to give your local farm a call to find out when they are picking berries, as the time-line varies from year to year, depending on the weather and how early the spring weather arrives.

Broccoli Salad!
This is probably the most requested recipe I have been asked to bring to picnics as my dish to pass! It is a healthy alternative to the usual potato or macaroni salad. One hint, if it will be a while before you eat, I started taking the dressing in a separate container to keep in the cooler and mixing ...about an hour before dinner. The dressing blends well and the vegetables don't get too soggy!

Hitting the waters is a great family activity during the summer months.
Whether it’s a power boat, a family canoe, or a walk on the dock, the risks are the same. Anyone on or near the water without a life jacket is at risk for drowning in the event of an accident. We want you and your family to be safe on the water ...this year, which is why we are celebrating Safe Boating Week.
