College of Liberal and Performing Arts The Atreyun Saxophone Quartet from SAU was awarded first place in the chamber music group competition at Music Teacher's National Association state competition, Nov. 8 at Henderson State University. The members of the quartet are Chad Tucker, sophomore from Carthage, TX; Matthew Mahaffey, senior from Corrigan, TX; Dom...inic Nguyen, sophomore from Haltom City, TX; and Jessie Wigginton, junior from Tupelo, MS.

Lois Davis, freshman from Haltom City, TX earned 2nd place in the (18 yrs. and under) Senior Woodwinds category, and she is the state alternate to the regional contest.

Mahaffey also competed in the Young Artist Woodwinds category (ages 26 and under) was awarded 2nd place and is also the state alternate to regionals.
