I grew up on Majuro and Ebeye and speak fluent Marshallese. We were the first students at Coop school and I spent my freshmen year at MHS. I flew for Aloha Airlines until they went under a year and a half ago. My favorite trips were to the Marshall Islands. The most memorable trip was flying a Springdale, Arkansas ...church group from Honolulu to Majuro. I made all my Passenger Addresses in Marsallese to show my pride and raise the spirits of the locals onboard. On this particular trip, the passengers starting singing the Marshall Islands national anthem when they spotted the islands from above. I heard the harmony through the cockpit door, which brought goose bumps and a lump at the bottom of my throat.Read More
