Mallahan for Mayor
Joe was welcomed to “The Center of the Universe” by Chris Webb, owner of Fremont Coffee. Over coffee Chris asked, “Where are we going to go with the city? The mayor and city council need to be our advocates.” “Right,” said Joe. “Whatever ...

Dear Honorable Candidates:

I know this idea will be met with some skepticism (and possibly scorn), but it is obvious that neither one of you has a clear mandate. My own family was torn on who to pick, so I would like to make a, shall we say, modest proposal.

Why not attempt to broker a power-sharing deal, whereby you would play to each other's strengths and balance each other out for the next year? Give us a year to show what you both can do, then have a special election in one year's time - time enough to let the public see how you both work. It is a suggestion that comes from far afield, I know, but it is a solution that could show that our Emerald City can come together to work towards the common good, using cooperation rather than coercion, friendship rather than fighting, one alliteration rather than another alliteration.... See More

One year. One year to show the citizens of the city what y'all got, give us your best, your worst - show us what you can do together.

It's probably unheard of, unprecedented in American Society... but M-Squared for Co-mayor!

Thank you for your time.

Joe spoke out months ago that our senior centers are grossly under-financed, compared with the per capita amounts spent by some of our nearby suburbs. Kathleen Crump does an amazing job of managing the Wallingford Senior Center. So many elders depend in its programs. The city needs to pull together to save it, in the next 30 days.

Nice article. I trust, tho, that Joe, unlike the current hizonner, does not take up the cause of "liberating" us from our cars by declaring neighborhoods "car free" areas. Hizonner got well smacked by that foible, and deservedly so. A choice, not commands from the chess masters, is the American way of liberty.
