My power just came back on at 8pm after being out for 46 hours. I am in Unicoi, but actually have Elizabethton Electricity. I live in a section where Washington, Unicoi and Carter counties all come together.

Mallory Nicholls The main roads seem to be fine with maybe a few slick spots. The secondary roads are still pretty hazardous. The only road closure I am aware of is North Central Avenue in Church Hill. I-26 is running, but roads crews are still working hard to get the cars off of the sides of the road.

Yes the roads are bad. 36 has some really slick spots - and you have to go slowly because sometimes there are hazards around a bend where you can't see them. WHEN WEATHER IS LIKE THIS, YOU DO NOT TAILGATE THE PERSON IN FRONT OF YOU! I almost got hurt twice today because of that. I didn't want to go out, but HAD to. It is still quite dangerous, and will be when it freezes again tonight.

We have 5 1/2" in my yard on Broad Street in Bristol. We're safe and sound. My daughter went to work and made it ok. The main streets are in pretty good shape up here. I have some pics in my profile. Happy Birthday Mallory!!

I don't understand why the snow is melting and dripping off the cars here in Kingsport if the temp is actually dropping.

That was the problem.....it was the weight of a wet and heavy snow that caused downed power lines and trees. Cold temps would have keep the water content lower in the snow and would have not caused such havoc.

We got my mom home from the hospital before the real snow hit. Then we got to Walmart by the time it started snowing hard. It took us 45 minutes to make the normally 15 minute drive home from Walmart. For her first time driving in snow like this, my daughter did a great job keeping it between the lines.
