Filmmaker Ken Burns, winner of 10 Emmy Awards and two Oscar nominations, will present The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, the companion book to his recent PBS series, at The Equinox Hotel in Manchester, Vermont. The director, producer, co-writer, cinematographer and music director of the landmark television series The Civil War, Ken Burns also produced the Emmy Award-winning series The War, about World War II; Jazz; Mark Twain; and Baseball; among many others. He is the recipient of more than 20 honorary degrees and is a sought-after public speaker throughout the country. The National Parks was filmed over the course of six years at some of nature’s most spectacular locales, from Acadia to Yosemite, and from Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon. It is the story of people both rich and poor who were willing to dedicate themselves to saving at least some portion of the land they loved.
