Last Saturday (11/14/2009) Manda Akann'ade Clan invaded JediCON-SP 2009 in a brave mission to find the inspiration of all Mandalorians around the world: Boba Fett (the real one). During our incursion we found our vode from Vode-An clan from São Paulo.

Portland Comic Book Show 2009

On Sunday, November 15, 2009 members of the Northwest Confederacy Clan invaded the comic book show, sharing a booth (for the first time ever) with the 501st Cloud City Garrison, Rebel Legion's Kashyyyk Base and theforce.net's Oregon FanForce.

While Cloud City / Kashyyyk Base had a backdrop (of the Tantive IV) set up for the crowds to have pics taken with the costumers. For a a fee, patrons of the show could have their pics taken with their favorite Star Wars characters, with the fee going toward benefiting Doernbecher's Children's Hospital. All said and done, Cloud City/KashyyyK Base raised approximately $400.

NWC, put on an armor demonstration and showed how easy it is to put beskar'gam together. While, there were some minor setbacks, the show was a complete success. The NWC even had the privilege of of meeting (and having a pic taken with) Andy Mangels, author of "Twin Engines of Destruction".

Through the generosity of members of the Mandalorian Mercs, and through the donations of individuals through charity events...Mandalorian Mercs was able to raise $1300 this year for our "Help a Verd'ika Fund".

Unlike previous years, this years sees two of our chapters participating in the giving of the fund to families and local organizations that help our immediate communities.  We are very proud to have accomplished so much in the last 3 years of the fund, and we look forward to 2010 and the ability to help even more children around the world.

This years participants and their sponsored charities are:

Falco Clan (New York), donating to help "A Room to Heal, Inc.".  This charity builds healing environments for children affected by serious medical conditions in the Broome county NY area.

Naast Clan (GA/AL), Donating to "Scottish Rights Children's Hospital".  Naast Clan will be passing out toys to children in the hospital as well as hosting a small party for the children.

Stay tuned for the 2009 "Help a Verd'ika" invasion reports!
