Marie's Home Improvement Guide, by Marie L. Leonard I am doing a series of ceiling repairs filling some holes made by plumbers and carpenters at the home of a client very sensitive to chemicals. So I am using plaster of paris instead of joint compound. The basics are the same as I discuss in Ch. 4 (What about Walls) on patching medium and large size holes.

Leonard This past week I replaced my old, aluminum pleated dryer vent with a rigid dryer vent I constructed from 2 foot long pieces of vent material I purchased at the local hardware store. This is a great project for a home owner which allows your dryer to work more efficiently!

Marie's Home Improvement Guide, by Marie L. Leonard I worked wtih a woman this morning to finish a ceiling drwall project that her husband abandonded about a year ago. We cut and mounted a piece of drywall, applied corner bead, taped the joints and then applied the first coat of drywall. If you learned how to patch a large hole in a wall (see chapter 4, pg.92) all the same skills apply.
