Canadian correspondents Mark Macneill and David Vaver report that the Canadian Glen Breton whisky case, first noted on Scots Law News here, was reversed by the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal on 22 January 2009.

Mark Macneill Hi Bill, you are not the first NDP supporter to voice that concern. For that matter, I don't hear the other parties speaking out much in this issue either. Its sad about all the civilian lives lost in a few short days - even if there is now a cease-fire.

Mark Macneill Janet, Diane, et al ... I truly appreciate the effort and concern you are showing by sharing your concerns for our riding and communities on this discussion site. I wholeheartedly agree with both of you and believe that assertive action for change is required now to remedy the plight all too many families in Cape Breto...n Canso are experiencing with respect to not having enough income (or no income), not being able to pay the escalating energy bills, not being able to keep up with increasing property taxes, not being able to afford training, not being able to find a family physician or a specialist with out having to travel great distances and many more difficult obstacles that our communities face. It doesn't have to be this way, and we can make a difference and we can make things change. That's why I am running to be your MP. We have to believe that we can by working together with a concerted effort and focus, and strategy make things better for our region, riding and for our families.
