Bravo to Will Phillips. Bravo to his parents for raising such an intelligent and resolute young American. Boo to the reporter who interviewed the boy and his father with such a smirk and condescending manner.

If this doesn't show people that there is no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans I don't know what does. It's time we look for a third party and no not an Independent, but a real different option. Both the Republicans and the Democrats have their own self interests first in how they act both legislatively and morally. It's time to ... See Moretake all the incum. Senators out of Albany and replace them with something truly different. This goes well beyond marriage equality but marriage equality is just another issue that shows how broken our two party system is. The Dems have time and again thrown the GLBT community under the bus and the Repubs don't even pretend they won't. Every other democracy has more than a two party system, it's time we brought that here. We need to find another way or our civil rights struggle will always be defeated by the two parties who are only concerned with maintaining power.

Diaz says that he "doesn't agree with what I (sic) do" (whatever he thinks it is that I do), but says we can still "be friends". He, and many, are missing the point. It's not a question of agreement. It's not a question of friendship. I have plenty of friends; I don't need to add him to the list. It's a question of validity and a question of civil ... See Morerights. As the member of a minority, he should be ashamed of himself for striving to discriminate against another minority. Until Gays and Lesbians are validated by our government and treated as equal under the law, under ALL laws, this will not end. Regardless of how many citizens "agree" with the idea of gay marriage doesn't change the fact that we are entitled the same rights as everyone else. That is America.

Exactly. The United States was not set up on the principle that the majority rules. The Bill of Rights specifically protects the minority's right to their opinion, beliefs, and lifestyle choices. On a more personal note, one of the most important people in my life died around this time last year. If she and her partner had been able to get ... See Moremarried, her partner's insurance would have covered her and the cancer would have been caught earlier. My aunt knew about it but they couldn't afford to have her diagnosed and treated for a couple months until she had new health insurance. In a completely literal way, equal rights for gays might have saved my aunt's life.
