Join more than 150 urban environmental leaders from throughout New England at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, to explore key strategies for fostering inspired and innovative urban environmental leadership November 6 - 8. Greening the City is geared toward environmental practitioners and thinkers from non-profits, h...igher education, local community groups, government agencies, and businesses. It will feature prominent environmental thinkers and practitioners from academia and government agencies, as well as from for profit and nonprofit organizations. There will be keynote talks, workshops, and an exhibit area, and other interactive ways to engage with the challenges and solutions arising from our increasingly urban world. The conference is meant to engage in-depth and meaningful dialogue among participants while addressing the difficulties and opportunities faced in cultivating just and sustainable urban communities.Read More

Mass Audubon invites you to join us for "Crickets, Critters and Cocktails," a summer fundraising event to be held on August 8th to celebrate Pleasant Valley’s 80th birthday founding of Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary at 472 West Mountain Rd. in Lenox, MA.

Purchase tickets at: www.crickets.eventbrite.com. Tickets are... $65 per person.

The informal cocktail party, festooned with critters, creatures, and kites from Barong Imports is one summer party not to miss.

Guests will enjoy chilled, critter-inspired cocktails from an open bar from 6:30 to 9:30 sponsored by Nejaime’s Wine Cellar, Berkshire Mountain Distillers, and Pittsfield Brew Works.

Food will be provided by Mission Bar and Tapas, Shaker Mill Tavern, Chocolate Springs, Betty’s Pizza Shack, and others.

"Crickets, Critters and Cocktails " will feature a fun raffle, silent auction, and music by Lurid Details, the funkiest new band in the Berkshires

The evening will culminate with s'mores around a bonfire serenaded to the cacophony sound of the sanctuary’s own cricket symphony.

The event is co-chaired by Al Bauman and Mary Garnish of Pittsfield. Major event sponsors include Berkshire Living, Country Curtains, Harrison Design, and Laurin Publishing.

There are 25 Bird-a-Thon teams, each supporting an individual sanctuary, a group of sanctuaries, or a Mass Audubon program.... The teams are vying to see:

* which team can spot the most bird species in one day
* which team can raise the most money for their sanctuary or program

Tales of the Night
A frightfully fun evening for the whole family!
OCTOBER 29 and OCTOBER 30
6:30 pm-8:30pm

Prowl the farm with curious creatures of the night on candlelit paths.
Visit the ghoulish graveyard for witch’s brew and spooky snacks.
Enjoy a haunted hayride in the frightening fields or visit the creepy critter mans...ion.
Dress in costume and bring a flashlight to light your way!


$9 admission—Kids under 3 free
