Lari Hull Shank THANK YOU FIRE FIGHTERS. Here is shortened poem
At First Methodist Church one September night,
The youth gathered for games that didn’t seem right,
Sporting pickles and peanut butter, and greased down with lard,
Building human pancakes while slippery proved to be hard.
Eating bananas through pantyhose, sliding down a wet h...ill,
Pools of pudding with candy for immersing one’s face,
Slimy and nasty, the youth frolicked on,
‘til enough was enough, and the hoses came on.
The church garden hoses did not have the power,
So the fire trucks and firemen gave each kid a shower.
The hydrants were tapped; fire hoses did spray,
the water washed SOME of the brown slime away.
The fun was all-reaching, starting with Zeke,
But also parents and helpers, (said with tongue in cheek).
But there was One more, though we could not spy.
He was there smiling brightly with twinkle in eye.
I know this for fact, I can swear that it’s true,
For He said, “Where you gather, I’ll be there too.”
