RECENT ACTIVITY

Maurine Karagianis would like to thank everyone who worked so hard on the campaign. Your dedication and support means so much.

Devyn Karagianis Flesher Your campaign looks like it is totally on fire, mom. At the rally last night I found myself really wishing we were on the same side of the water. It would have been great to be doing that with you and Jayne and the Esq. team. I miss the raging grannies. We don't have any raging grannies over here. We have grannies who are raging. But they don't have any great hats.

The campaign has been terrific! We've been gaining momentum all the way. Yesterday, we did a burma shave at the overpass by Shoreline school. The school voted in their own elections earlier that day & I won with 80% of the vote! Our burma shave coincided with the end of their day. So the kids poured out of the school and joined us- yelling, waving ... Read Moremy signs - with traffic honking & waving! It was total chaos in a wonderful way! A Channel showed up in the middle of it so the kids had a total blast & got on TV too. Total serendipity but just wonderful!

The NDP promised yesterday, as part of their election campaign, to push ahead with a $104-million upgrade of the E&N Rail corridor to make way for commuter-rail service in the capital region.

It would be such a dream come true for Islanders to be able to live up-island and realistically commute to Victoria using reliable green transportation. How many years have we been waiting for this? The Liberals can "study" all they want, but they will never know the answers.

here's a scoop. a nurse recently told me that patients of the private clinic in Vancouver go to VGH, our PUBLIC hospital to get their x-rays. so we subsidize their que jumping...or did i misunderstand??? the nurse was livid.

Maurine, I have unfortunately spent enough time in BC Hospitals to see first hand the decline in services and hygiene since the Liberals have cut and contracted things out. Cleaning services for example, are horrid in some places. This is not to say the workers are not doing their best, but they are too few, so poorly paid, and there is not enough ... Read Moreof them to go around and get the necessary job done. My husband went to Royal Jubilee for surgery, the room he was moved to after the surgery had dried blood spattered on the floor, on the IV machine and dried feces and blood in the bathroom. This was during the height of a Noro virus spread that had resulted in closing beds and limiting surgeries. I am sure Mr. Campbell would never end up in a room like that. Having been a patient at RJ 13 years ago, I can assure that the happy, unionized and well compensated cleaning services folks had the resources and the ability to maintain a cleaner facility, and I never saw anything like that.

Yes, the legacy of the BC Liberals 8 years in government - dirty hospitals, bad food, long wait lists. They have managed to make a complete mess of our public healthcare system. There is only one answer - on May 12th Vote NDP & take back our BC!
