The McGowan Institute is one of the most ambitious regenerative programs in the nation, coupling biology and engineering. To realize the vast potential of tissue engineering and other techniques aimed at repairing damaged or diseased tissues and organs, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Health System have established the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The McGowan Institute serves as a single base of operations for the University's leading scientists and clinical faculty working to develop tissue engineering, cellular therapies.
Full Spectrum Program:
The Institute is a multidisciplinary team of over 235 faculty members, consisting of scientists, engineers and clinicians representing 31 different academic departments who are committed to advancing the state-of-the-art in regenerative therapies. In addition, the Institute’s Center for Industry Relations is a key element in the University of Pittsburgh’s drive for industry engagement and partnerships in regenerative and rehabilitation medicine. The Center advances the assembly of academic and industrial "homes" that can provide integrated intellectual and physical resources for the conduct of original clinical and translational science.
