Media Education Foundation Jackson Katz takes on the misogyny in Eminem’s music in a recent article published in the Huffington Post. Eminem has recently made a huge comeback that has landed him in the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly and Time Magazine, and almost no music critics have taken on his extreme women-hating lyrics. Katz points out that despite the fact that Eminem graphically raps about raping and assaulting pretty much every female artist in Hollywood (and innocent girls he finds on street benches), critics have stopped commenting on the violence and misogyny in his songs. Check out the article!

The evidence of our culture's unwillingness to address the reality and ubiquity of men's violence against women is not merely contained in the lyrics on Eminem's new album.

Just amazing! Ive been thinking about this for a long time! (im 15 xD shocker!): I think that since the 1980s society has been declining in attitudes, ideals, and reality. I have noticed that many children only care about getting rich and solely base their career on a career that makes money. Materialism has BOOMED to an amount never seen before. ... Read MoreHaving brand name or expensive clothes is everything now. Television has a HUGE part it in, especially things like Disney Channel. They advertise being "cool" as buying expensive materials to be happy. The Happy Meal is an obvious advertisement, children think Happy Meals will get them happy because it has the word on it. (its proven nice, positive words attract customers) The lottery commercials base all happiness on being rich and that a person cannot be happy if they are not rich. Celebrity stalking and glorifying adds another part to the trend. Children look up to these people, but the celebrities all wear these expensive clothing...

...because they are afraid or pressured into thinking they need to wear it. Luxuries now have become necessities. Before they were more of the WANT section, now an iPod is a NEED and a child, teenager and some adults think their life would crash down if they didn't have an iPod, iPhone, XBox 360/PS3/Wii/DS.i, Jordan sneakers, and much more. I have ... Read Moreso many problems with Advertisement and Media's monopolizing role in children's ideas and personality. They are creating a society of assholes, and materialistic, judgmental, unappreciative, spoiled and bratty children.
