Jim McClure

Jim McClure I am new to this board but I think it is important to say that I went the full holistic approach and my melanoma disappeared. It is more than just juicing and taking supplements but the main thrust I get out of what has happened to me is that I allowed my body to develop the natural cancer killers that actually did tha...t. I was at Stage IV with no ... See Morecure from traditional medicine. I also go to a Dr Walter Lemmo in Vancouver BC for intravenous vitamin C injections and have met many people who were told they had months to live and are still alive and doing very well years later. There is definitely merit in naturopathic medicine.

John Young For those that are interested, here in Australia, through the great help of people like Jay Allen, a group has started called Melanoma Patients Australia. I know this is an American group, but one of the hardest things in all of this is the help and support people need afterwards. Not only the melonama sufferers but th...eir families and loved ones. The web address is http://www.melanomapatients.org/

Debbie Fasano

Debbie Fasano My Dad passed away on May 12th 2009 from Melanoma. It was so terrible to see him suffer from this awful disease. He was first diagnosed 2 years ago surgery was done on the upper part of his chest at that time it was stage 3 melanoma, he also was battling chronic lymphatic leukemia. But April of this year the melanoma... was back like gang busters it was in the brain, spine, lungs. His wish was to die at home. We had Hospice Care for him here. I miss him so much especially now the holidays are so not right without him.

Jayne Fretwell My husband passed away on 13th september 2009 from melanoma, only 9 months after 1st diagnosis (Jan 09) got the all clear from surgery (radical neck dissection and lymph node removal) and radiotherapy in May to find out in August it had spread to his lungs and abdominal lining, they were planning to do chemo but he got... seriously ill very quickly and passed away 3 weeks after being told it had returned, professor patel said it was alot more aggressive than he thought it would have been, as with others on here they never found his primary site. Everyone seems to think it only starts in moles but it can be anywhere, even under the skin. My husband was only 37 so thanks to this awful disease i'm left to bring up my 12 year son on my own

Kathryn Rippley

Kathryn Rippley Has anyone here heard of PLX-4032? supossed to be a "miracle" drug for melanoma, with promising results. Still in clinical trials. Type it into your search engine, and see what you find.

Hi Kathryn. As a hopefully "former" sufferer of melanoma, i was very excited to see the story on PLX 4032 on 60 minutes here in Australia. It is a drug that has had great success on melanoma to the point now they are trialling it on other cancers as well. The key to PLX is that if you are diagnosed with melanoma you have to have the b-raff negative... See More form. They take a blood test and it takes a couple of weeks to get the results back to see if you have the b-raff negative type, of which they say at least 50% of us have. If it is the positive it doesnt work. They have found that PLX attacks the tumours and either stop there growth or even in some cases either shrink or totally make them disappear.

Kathryn Rippley Please continue your prayers for my husband, James. He is in MD Anderson fighting for his life. Heavy-duty chemo with IL2, Interferon, Cisplastin, Visblastine, and Temador. The treatment itself might kill him, but he is a real fighter. In seven weeks this monster went into his lung and lower spine, brain MRI is clear, THANK GOD!

Kerri Hayes My father was diagnosis with stage iv melanoma in December 2007. He passed away after battling 6 lesions on his brain in March of 2008. We never found out where the Melanoma originated. My cousin is battling stage II Melanoma, luckily she caught it in time. My family has dealt with Melanoma a great deal the past tw...o years but we are encouraged from this impact to raise money and awareness for this horrific cancer that not many people know enough about. We recently ran the Chicago half marathon and raised roughly $4000. I am continuing to raise funds for all those effected by this disease by running the Las Vegas half marathon. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are dealing with pain, loss or suffereing from this cancer.
