Happy to find this site (through my daughter). I have Stage IV melanoma, they are not certain where it started, but it is in my brain, lungs, lymph nodes, kidney, pelvis, etc. Getting reeady to start high dose Interleuken-2 therapy in a week or so. (They first have to use the "gamma knife" to radiate the lesion in m...y brain). If anyone has experience with IL-2, I would be interested to hear any comments??? Thank you!Read More

Kathryn Rippley

Kathryn Rippley My husband is fighting Stage IIIc Melanoma in his neck. 6 weeks after radical neck dissection, more lumps in his neck. Will find out this week if more surgery, radiation, chemo? More people need to be educated about this deadly form of skin cancer.

Karen Roberts

Karen Roberts Philly was a good time with a lot of awesome people; so many perspectives and great ideas were shared. I think this could be the spark that "lights-up" the melanoma awareness effort we so desperately need.

My stepfather was diagnosed about three months ago with Malignant Melanoma Stage IV. They were in the hospital to run some tests to see if the Chemo has touched the tumors, they have grew. Due to his coronary heart disease, no surgeries can be done or other chemo's as their side effects are heart attacks. He had an eme...rgency surgery done while in the hospital, due to a part of his small intestine entering his large. He recovered, and they are finally home. The oncologist said about 3-6 months, but I believe God works miracles, and I believe Brian is the strongest man, dad, bestfriend, that I know. Please pray, please...pray.Read More

I wouldn't say any of the examples you use are "promoted" although all have been discussed (and mainly debunked). The bb is an open forum where people freely discuss ALL topics related to melanoma. While it is horrible that quacks prey on the desperate as in anything in this life it's buyer beware. Everyone needs to do their own research. But ... Read Morewhen you're dealling with a population with an average life expectance of 13 months it is very understandable that some would try anything - even dangerous things that don't have much hope. And so what if they do? The end result will probably be the same but everyone has to make their own choices.
