Melbourne Silver Mine Inc.
Now in its third year, The Melbourne Silver Mine’s UNSENSORED09 is the work of 44 artists using film in their photographic expression.
The spectrum of methods, genres and statements in the exhibited works are as broad as the spectrum of artists, and visitors can expect everything from the polished to the lo-fi, avant ga...rde to traditional, shot on equipment from modern to nigh-arcane. Film is the common thread in the group: each artist exploits the nuances of film-based capture in tandem with new post-analogue processes and methods.
Works will be available for purchase during the exhibition, and many of the artists will be present through the duration of the show and on opening night.
Unsensored07 saw 12 photographers presenting work, which doubled in 2008. Unsensored expands once again in 2009, continuing to showcase new works by emerging photographers. Unsensored09 is a project of The Melbourne Silver Mine, a non-profit incorporated association based in Melbourne, Australia.
The group was formed by a group of enthusiastic analogue photographers. Its purpose is to encourage and promote the continued use, unique features and appreciation of traditional photographic techniques and equipment.
The Melbourne Silver Mine is planning events and projects in line with this purpose and would love to hear from photographers and other interested parties who share this ideal.

World Toy Camera Day is a community affair with like minded toy camera photographers from all over the globe who take part on this day in the month of October.
A day where we wake up in the wee hours of the morning and load all of our favorite plastic cameras like the Holga, Diana, Brownies and the like and end the day... with our Low-fi, Low-brow, blurry and ridiculously out of focus snap shots.
A day invented by Becky Ramotowski who took the idea from World Pinhole Photography Day. Her idea spawned a world wide annual event using toy cameras and shooting endless rolls of 120 and Polaroid film...oh and even some crappy 35mm too...and has been in circulation for six years now. See you all there!

The Melbourne Silver Mine is teaming up with the Melbourne Flickr (mother) group to add a twist to the regular monthly flickr meet for October 2008
The Melbourne Silver Mine will be putting on a bit of a show of DIY film development... So there will be film cameras for folks to play with, shoot with, and then we will be... developing the film, and creating some prints from them... all at the picnic bench!
Giving you a chance to see how easy and fun analogue photography can be,.. as long as you don't mix your developer with your sauv blanc.
MSMInc will have a bit of a sausage sizzle going on as well, so, all you need to do is bring yourself down, a drink, some gold coins for your snag needs and prepare to be amazed by the wonders of chemistry.
There's no charge for taking part in the DIY developing bonanza, any money raised stays within the non-profit incorporated association Melbourne Silver Mine Inc to fund future photographic events.
Meet details:
Sunday 5th October, 1pm
Albert Park Lake picnic area
Albert road end of albert park lake, right near the water between Lakeside drive and Aquatic Drive.
Best public transport option is tram 112, to the corner of Clarendon Street and Albert Road in south melbourne and then a short walk East along Albert Road.Read More
