E-CUBE (http://www.membersproject.com/project/view/PMQXHR) is a proposal for a Higher Technology Education & Employment opportunities for the upliftment of communities affected by decades of civil strife.

The Problem
For three decades,Sri Lanka has been scarred by a bitter civil war arising out of ethnic tensions and lack of economic development.Although Sri Lanka has been known for its high rate of literacy, less than 3% of high school graduates get admission to the university level education. The majority give up any hope for higher education due to lack of degree awarding institutes in north & east region. This is one of the critical underlying causes of the ongoing ethnic strife.

The Impact
Increasing access to education & employment opportunities is the key to peace & prosperity in Sri Lanka. Unlike other poor developing nations, the higher rate (92%) of literacy provides an opportunity to educate the thousands of unemployed and under-utilized population.
