I, Shawn Mayer, recently was approached, and I accepted, to be the National Spokesperson for the "Watchful Eye Foundation" (WEF) after getting second runner up on NBC's Nashville Star this past season.
Recently WEF has taken in a family who has just gone through the unimaginable. 3yr old Eveyln was brutally raped, sodomized, murdered while in her own bed by a man who broke in through the bedroom window on May 23, 2009. You may have seen this story all over National News.
This is such a horrible thing for a family to have to go through. The WEF is currently trying to raise money for this family to help pay for funeral expenses, to help to purchase a new home for them to live in so that they don't have to live in their current home filled with pain and nightmares of what happened in it, and also to help pay for counseling for the family and Evelyn's 5yr old brother who was in the room when this horrific thing happend. I wanted to use the exposure that I gained from the Nashville Star show to reach out a helping hand. I feel that I have such great fans, friends, and family. And if we all pull together and each one of us spread the word to others, we could help this family through this hard time in their lives. The family doesn't have much money and I feel that the last thing that they should have to worry about right now is exactly that.
