Joanna

Joanna Looking for suggestions for intelligent reading matter on the subjects of the Templars and the crusades for a New Zealand lass with a developing interest in the history. Any suggestions anyone for Authors/books? She is keen to read about Baldwin/Simon but wants background and context first...

There are probably a thousand history books on the Templars -- very popular subject. Every book store should be bulging with Knights Templar related texts... just try to steer clear of the more wild, crazed freemasonry, religious conspiracy crap and stick to true history. There are plenty of amazing tales/personalities in the real. Also, there are some guides like Karen Ralls' Knights Templar Encyclopedia, if she just wants a guide of facts, people, places. Cheers!

Andrew Hi Michael, I was wondering of you could suggest a site or book with a list of village names. I am trying to work up a new persona for a Living History group that I am part of and need a village to go with it. You once suggested that I read "Blood Red Roses: The Archaeology of a Mass Grave from the Battle of Towton AD 1461" which was a really informative.

Louise Booth

Louise Booth Oh boy, another one coming! I have enjoyed the series so much, and am on my second go-round rereading ... or for some it's the third. I'm so pleased to hear that you're continuing. I recently had to dig out my old British history texts from eons ago to see what happened to the Despensers. You've made the period come so vividly alive! Thanks!

Alan Palmer

Alan Palmer Hi Michael,
Just read the latest newsletter and found you on here as asked!
Glad you're carrying on with Sir Baldwin and Simon, I've got most of my medieval re-enactment friends into your books now (same period) and my partner and I stayed in Lydford hotel recently and visited most of the villages from the book titles an...d especially Lydford Castle. I am from Devon originally and I love going back the moors (camping next to Wistmans wood by the river is the spookiest yet most tranquil thing, try it!)
Keep up the fantastic work, Cheers!

Michael Jecks Very happy today. Just agreed a contract with Simon & Schuster. To move an existing series is always a little difficult and scary, but I'm very confident that the people at S&S are more keen to promote me and my work, both in the UK and (hopefully) US. So, for all those who enjoy the adventures of Simon and Baldwin, th...e series is continuing. Book 29 and 30 are both already approved. More will follow!

Carrie Mitchell

Carrie Mitchell Thank you for your wonderful Templar Mysteries books. They have helped me learn, as well as teach my eldest son, about that period of the medieval monarchy and The Knights Templar, which he studied recently in school. Your books have allowed me to bring this era to life, rather than just having a mental portrait of a f...at king in a feathered cap or other hum-drum kind of thing I remember from my own secondary school learning.

In teaching my son you have reignited a dream I had long since shelved: that of becoming a teacher. To be able to personally thank you for helping inspire me to go and get that degree and PGCE is fantastic! I begin my degree this coming Monday, and I owe a good deal of credit to you and your novels.

Roll on the next book, raise a jug of ale in cheers, (or perhaps wine if you are like Sir Baldwin), and well done on an excellent series of literary works :)

Thanks for the post, Sonia, but I don't think they'll do any more. Both rather too old for the early books . . . in fact, too old for the later books, too! Hope you carry on enjoying the series, and let's hope there's a film some time down track.
