Hi Janice, Sandy and Chris.

Thank you very much for your feedback and kind words. An interesting side note that was sparked by the article is that it helped me get in touch with the Pet Over Population & Prevention group here in Richland. (http://www.popptricities.org/) Hopefully I will be able to help their organization too.

In so many pictures of homeless animals, there is a lost look in their eyes and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. When I look at the pictures you’ve taken of the animals at the shelter, I see the light in their eyes! I see hope, love, whatever it may be. I have to believe that has everything to do with the photographer and your purpose. To give of yourself, your resources, talents and time ~ has not only made me a fan of your work as an artist, but more importantly of your mission to help the animals.

You can only supply a reporter with facts. What happens with those facts is out of anyone's control as quotes are easily placed out of context and a published story can make us wonder if it's the same story we were interviewed for!

Mike's work with homeless animals simply saves lives. He has a way to capture each adoptable pet's personality, uniqueness and beauty which results in interest from potential adopters and ultimately helps find them homes.

If Mike so chooses to build a stunning portfolio because of these incredible images, all the power to him! What is an artist/photographer to do? Throw them out?

Mike gives each pet dignity and timelessness. He can cherish and share each pet's image, along with their special story, long after he or she has been adopted, or sadly, didn't make it.

He is one very special person who gives a major contribution to homeless pets! THANK YOU! You make a difference, Mike & keep clicking!

Tail wags & purrs from all the pets you've captured!

Nice enough article, but I agree, Mike--it sounded more like you were doing it for your own benefit, instead of trying to help the animals get noticed and adopted. Well, it will get folks looking at the pictures, no doubt, and hopefully that will accomplish the real mission! I'm so glad I have the candid pics you shot of Kiko & Josie when you were here--you do such beautiful work!!

It is a nice article but I am a little disappointed that the focus was on that one session rather than on what I am trying to do in my work with the humane society animals.

And for the record, it was ten minutes tops. :)
