About Me:
Chairman Michael Williams is one of the three statewide elected members of the Texas Railroad Commission which regulates Texas’ oil, coal, uranium and natural gas industries. Williams is seeking reelection to the Commission in November of 2008. He joined the commission under appointment of Governor George W. Bush in 1998 to fill a vacancy.

In 2000, Williams won the two-year unexpired term without Democratic opposition. In 2002, Williams won a full six-year term on the commission.

Michael’s fascination with ideas and ability to convey the conservative agenda has earned him the distinction of being the most passionate and articulate voice in Texas government. He believes that improved education in math and science, increased inclusion, strong families and solid marriages benefit all Texans.

He also believes that environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, fuel diversity and increasing Texas production work together to generate a healthy Texas economy and improved energy security for the strength and safety of this great State and our future generations.

He chairs the Governor’s Clean Coal Technology Council, chairs the FutureGen Texas board, and represents the Governor and the Railroad Commission of Texas on the Southern States Energy Board. On September 14, 2005, Governor Perry designated Williams as his designee to lead the state’s long-term Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Williams also is the Railroad Commission “point person” for the agency’s regulatory reform and technology modernization efforts.

The son of public school teachers, Williams earned a bachelor’s, a master’s and a law degree from the University of Southern California.

Thanks for all of your kind notes. Right now, I have an election to win. We'll talk about the future down the road.

And thanks to all who attended my fundraiser last night. It's a great privilege to meet you in person and thanks for all of your support.

Who can't agree with that?

Mr. Chairman,

I was at the Texas Republican State Convention last week and was absolutely floored by your speech. As you were going up the escalator, I was the young man going down who asked you to run for higher office. I was serious, and there is not one office you couldn't succeed in winning. It would be my pleasure in the future to help you campaign for senator when Kay Bailey Hutchison vacates her seat. Until then, cheers to your re-election bid.

Mr. Williams,

My name is James Adams and I just graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in economics. I will begin studies at SMU Law this fall and graduate in the fall of 2011. I could make $150,000 to start when I leave there, but I will come to work for you for a third of that. Your just the kind of man that I am looking to get behind and learn from. 832-368-4718. Just let me know.
