While students at Bay City Public Schools were once able to opt out of a physical education course and supplement it with a varsity sport or extracurricular activity, a new state requirement will keep them in the gym for at least one trimester.

People with asthma are recommended to receive the H1N1 shot instead of the nasal spray to avoid exacerbating wheezing. An estimated 9.5% of Michigan residents have asthma. Of those, about 232,500 are children and 724,400 are adults.
