The New Middlebury College Bookstore:
The Bookstore will have both books and supplies together in one location on one continuous all connected floor. The new space will be amazing, and it will be worthy of a top-5 college like Middlebury.
As the Bookstore moves into the future, we will have more in-store events in our new bigger space, and we will provide more virtual services through our Bookstore web sites. We will continue to drive more value back to students through our Panther Rewards Program. We will strive to stock more used textbooks that save students money. We will increase the number of sustainable, fair trade, and local products we carry in the Bookstore. We will partner with students and department to bring programs that benefit students, the College, and the environment, like the campaign we had last spring to recycle books here on campus "A Book is a Terrible Thing to Waste." We will provide more open access to book information on the web in a timely competitive fashion. We will offer in-store and online streaming video promotions, events, and information. We will provide more products and services that more effectively meet the needs of our campus.
We will promote student accomplishments through the sale of their artistic works both in-store and through our online Bookstore. We will integrate student group fundraising events both in-store and through our online Bookstore. We will seek to promote many departments on campus. We will continue to develop our global leading Middlebury College Bookstore Facebook Social Network, which has brought a plethora of positive national press to the College, Rewards Network, and all of our Virtual Networks to create a matrix of value, a social networking engagement technology vortex. We will promote the academic accomplishments of the Middlebury faculty through the sale of their books both in-store and through our online Bookstore. We will seek to schedule faculty and author readings or appearances in the Bookstore by opening space via moving our new mobile supply and book in-store fixtures. We will continue to develop our Monterey Virtual Bookstore. We will work to increase and enhance how we serve the needs of the Language School, Bread Loaf School of English, and Bread Loaf Writers Conference. We will seek to enhance how we serve the needs of our alums when Reunion and Homecoming is happening on campus, and provide for those needs virtually through our online Bookstore.
As Middlebury continues to increase the reach of the College by being a leading provider for the global educational needs of students, the Bookstore will seek to provide the materials, Bookstore systems, and customer service processes, which will serve those academic and social needs. In these challenging financial times, the Bookstore will continue to deliver more value and services to students, faculty, staff, and the College all at the same time. We will become what we are not yet, striving for excellence in all that is Middlebury now and will be in the future.

Opt-In / Opt-Out:
: Since our Middlebury College Bookstore fans and friends network is becoming fairly large, we want to make sure everyone fully understands our purpose in using Facebook Pages, so you can decide to opt-in or opt-out.
We ask that you fan and friend us so we can invite you to events and groups, because each method allows us to communicate with you in different ways. We want to be able to let you know about promotions, giveaways, or Bookstore information.
Opt-out if you do not want fan and friend benefits. Opt-out if you feel hearing from us perhaps twice or so a month is too much. Opt-out if you are not comfortable being our fan or friend for any reason.
Opt-in if you want the fans and friends benefits, and you fully understand our purpose in using Facebook Pages.
Paradigm Shift / Strategic Vision:
:
"Our Facebook Fans Page represents a paradigm shift in how we do business. Instead of having customers we have fans and friends. Instead of traditional advertising and publicity alone, we focus on creating events and groups. We network; we listen; we respond; we have conversations with those we want to engage; we seriously consider the ideas and concerns of our fans and friends.”
“The paradigm shift is leading us to develop a global strategic vision. Instead of having in-network fans and friends alone, we will cross over into other networks, striking alliances and partnerships. We will advance social and environmental causes by partnering with like-minded groups. We will partner with vendors and create positive change through the distribution of products. We will establish a new global change alliance that will positively impact the world through the actions of its members.”
"The Bookstore is moving towards a matrix of integrated technology as a vehicle of social networking."
"We are what we are not yet"
