Midsumma

Midsumma Queer Melbourne’s single largest event, Carnival, will again open the 2010 Midsumma Festival; held in Alexandra Gardens with stalls, food, and main stage of showcase entertainment taking place through the commitment of Midsumma’s principal partner, the City of Melbourne.
Set on the banks of the Yarra and attracting over... 15,000 people, Carnival provides the perfect place for queer and queer friendly revellers to interact with over 100 retail and community stallholders, as well as entertainment on the main stage, which will also be broadcast live on JOY 94.9.

The main stage will include a selection of entertainment from the festival program, Luke Gallagher and Dolly Diamond, Anthony Manchetti, Hannah Gadsby and Adam Richard, and The Classics.
Eagle Pack will again present Duclie’s Dog Show – a Midsumma Carnival institution – which will sure to provide hilarious high camp fun and frivolity with categories including “cutest bitch” and “best owner and dog combo”.

Carnival won’t leave its visitors unsatisfied with a range of food vendors, as well as fully licensed bars from The Market Hotel and Greyhound Bar which will keep revellers refreshed during the day.

The day will close with T Dance, Midsumma’s dance party under the stars, co-presented by The Market Hotel and will feature international headline acts DJ Paul Heron and Inaya Day.

Midsumma Melbourne’s queerest outdoor dance party, T Dance, will set Alexandra Gardens pumping to dance the night away with an international line up of headline entertainment including DJ Paul Heron and super-vocalist diva, Inaya Day.

Living by the musical mantra ‘dirty, sexy fun’ and describing his sound as dirty pumping funk a...nd house, touching on sexy disco to tougher tribal grooves, DJ Paul Heron draws upon the 15,000 or so records he has amassed to craft club specific sets that have seen his name become a byword for the best in electro, funky, tribal and progressive house.

Performing from her catalogue of hits and blessed with an amazing gift of song, Inaya Day began singing in church as a young child, where she got her first experience in performing, and has spent time on the Billboard dance charts since, most memorably with Mousse T.’s “HORNY” which climbed to #1.

The 2010 T Dance is sure to please its punters with this special event, starting from 6pm after Midsumma’s single largest event, Carnival, when the beats begin with some of Australia’s best house DJs, brought by The Market Hotel.

The fully licensed Market Bar will keep dancing patrons refreshed through the night.
