I'm no fan of insurance companies, but if um-teen new buracracies inserted between me and my doctor and many new taxes on businesses and individuals is not a govt take-over, then, congressman, what is? How about patients first?

People will need to get down on their hands and knees, as Bonnie states, if this tax-laden, small-business hating, American-public sacrificing bill is passed. I am all about reform, but do not try and reinvent the wheel. Jumping into a NOT well thought out plan is NOT the answer.

Just say NO! to a public health care option. Polls show majority of Americans do not want it. I personally believe it is foolish for Governmnet to sign on to an open ended program when no one truely knows what the cost is going to be. We can not determine the cost, if we do not know how many people will sign on to use it. Secondly, how can this ... See Morecountry afford to spend for anything else? We are already borrowing decades into the future. Third, how do we think Government can efficiently run healthcare when for decades we have had struggles with social security, medicare, AMTRACK and other government run entities. It amazes me we are willing to sign on to a program where the bottom line costs are the unknown variable.

I appreciate the efforts of Mr Michaud and others in Congress as we strive to provide affordable healthcare for everyone in America. As a social services employee, I see people everyday that fall into that gray area between not qualifying for Medicaid (Mainecare in this state) and not being able to afford health insurance. We as a nation need to ... See Moreget past terms like "socialized healthcare", "government-run healthcare", and "death panels". The Right is putting fear into all of us.
Has anyone relized that by making healthcare affordable to everyone, healthcare costs will go down? It costs less to prevent illness than it does to treat it. With costs as they are now, people wait until the last moment to see a doctor, and by then it usually results in lengthy treatments, hospital stays, and a myriad of costly procedures to treat what may have been remedied with a lower cost option at the onset.
I hope Congree can some together and create REAL reform that works for all of us!!

Thank you for calling on Congress to stay in session and continue to work on this crucial legislation. I am glad you support the public option, although I think that ultimately only a single payer system will provide the efficiencies of scale and reduction of waste that will be needed to sustain our heath care system.

When you are considering the ... See Moreimpact on small businesses in your district, please keep in mind that many of us are self-employed or in very small businesses. We have a family business, and we pay a high price for high-deductible coverage (and get it through a business association whose views we don't endorse, but the alternative of non-group coverage is out of the question financially). It would be a tremendous help for us to have an affordable public option available.

Mike, as an MSEA activist, I honestly have to ask what the cost of this bill will be. I truly understand the movement, but can the single parent with kids really afford this legislation? PLEASE be sure to read the entire bill and encourage your fellow congressmen and women to do the same before placing your vote. And I know that you will take into consideraton how it will affect the people you represent in the great State of Maine!

I urge you to vote for the Health Care Reform bill up before the house.

The House's public option is national and available on day one. The Senate's public option allows states to "opt-out"—leaving behind some of the folks who need it most.2 We need the public option in every state.

The House bill makes coverage more affordable than the latest available version of the Senate bill does. A family earning $54,000 a year would pay almost $4,000 less for health insurance under the House version.3 We need more affordable coverage for middle-class families. ... See More

The House bill covers 7 million more Americans than the latest Senate bill does.4 We need health care for everyone.

Please vote for this compromise bill.
