In celebration of its second anniversary, MillionTreesNYC is introducing a lecture series this October – bringing some of the country’s premier experts in urban forestry to discuss the vital role city trees and our urban forests play in combating global warm...ing, improving our health and
well-being and contributing to community revitalization and economic development. Launched on Monday, October 5 with David Sibley’s, The Sibley Guide to Trees we continue the third part of our series with acclaimed artist, Katie Holten and the Tree Museum.

The Trees of Central Park

Join Edward S. Barnard, author of New York City Trees (Columbia University Press, 2002), and Neil Calvanese, Vice President of Operations of Central Park, as they discuss their current project to create ...a field guide to the trees of Central Park. The talk will take a look at what’s involved in maintaining Central Park and outline some of the problems created by the recent storm. The authors will also touch on tree dating, and some of the issues inherent in this technique. The lecture will end with a preview of their upcoming guide to Central Park trees. Presented by MillionTreesNYC in conjunction with the exhibition
