WHAT MAKES AN UNFORGETTABLE LITERARY HERO?

Is it the debonair charm of Rupert Campbell Black, or the brooding, wild mystery of Heathcliff? Perhaps Richard Sharpe's dashing bravery makes you swoon, or do you prefer the quiet intensity of Captain Corelli?

The vital i...ngredients required to create the ultimate romantic hero on the page are up for discussion at The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival's event on Literary Heroes on 13th October, with a panel hosted byMills & Boon. The panel discussing this hotly contested topic will include best-selling authors Katie Fforde, Sharon Kendrick, and Stella Duffy. They will be joined by actress Virginia McKenna.

The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival takes place from 9th to 18th October 2009, with the Mills & Boon event kicking off at 4pm on 13th October in the Town Hall.

In the lead up to the event, the Festival is giving you the chance to vote. To take part, visit www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/literaryheroes. http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/literaryheroes

Louise Fuller

Louise Fuller Hi. What a brilliant site. This is a completely random question but who are the models for the book covers and who creates the art work? I am going to check out the Mills and Boon book club at Yumchaa so might catch up with some of you there. Is the next meeting on October 6th?

Hello Louise! For series, some of the artwork is created by our colleagues in Canada - Modern, Historical, Desire etc. and then some is sourced here in the UK using image banks etc. In terms of the models, they are all based in North America and get rotated so you don't get the same hunky hero twice!
Next Yumchaa meeting is on 6th October - hope to see you there, we had a blast at the last one!
