I strongly hope that PEOPLE will realize they have the strength and will to make the positive changes necessary for continuous and harmonious existence. Relying on conventional power structures (money, politics) seems to be a waste of time. Let's get together, fellow humans, and make the changes that we know are necessary! WE CAN DO IT!!

I volunteered at the VA Hospital when I was 16, so many years ago. A pal and I went 3 times a week, all day, and it was a transformative experience for me. I learned it is impossible to just give -- I kept getting so much in return. (Plus, she learned that she wanted to be a nurse. I learned that I didn't!)

My hope for the new year is that all Americans will find the way to overcome the differences on issues that are paralyzing our country. I also hope that we as a country begin to see that we are part of this world and must overcome our nationalism and do our share to eliminate hatred, hunger, pain, suffering and work to take care of our spaceship called earth. It's the only one we have and we sure do need it to live.

So true, Ben. You remind me of a difficult few moments in one of my childbirth experiences, when I couldn't keep a visual focal point. The nurse got right up next to my head and whispered, "Relax your face. Relax your next", and so on. I was able to focus totally on her voice, and "step down" my Lamaze breathing to a lower level, and regain control. It has stuck with me for over 40 years!

at Oshkosh Truck we had over 600 people call in. Those of us who did come to work did our job and theirs too. They will even have this absence excused whereas we who worked got no pat on the back. Not fair.

Could it be we're "never married" because we're too selfish to make it in a committed relationship?
