The Ward Irish Music Archives will be hosting its monthly tune swap and slow session from 1-3pm this Sunday, June 7th at the Irish Fest Center. Note--per scheduling conflicts in June, the swap is taking place on the first Sunday, not the first Saturday.

Ward Irish Music Archives The Archives will be presenting its "History of Irish Traditional Music" exhibit at Gaelic Park this weekend. Barry Stapleton will also be giving talks about the history of Irish traditional music each day. Next weekend the archives director, Barry Stapleton, will be giving a program on Morton Downey Sr. at the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, ARSC, conference at the Library of Congress in Washington DC.

From the Dunn Family Collection: an advertisement featuring fiddler John McFadden and piper James Early of Chicago. These two men were friends with Francis O'Neill, Chicago's famous collector of Irish traditional music. The Ward Irish Music Archives holds a few cylinder recordings of McFadden and Early, some of the earliest examples of recordings of Irish traditional music played in small ensembles!
