HI Miss Bindergarten. My class was so excited when I told them you contacted me for the song. Ok here it is. I am just posting the info from where I got it and what we usually sing, but I can send you all the lyrics if you want.

Miss Bindergarten is looking forward to a new year and a new decade. This one has been wonderful in countless small ways, but so difficult and discouraging for our country and many parts of the world. IMy 'modest' hopes for 2010 are for no more war, a world wide effort to stop climate change, and to help get teachers the respect and salaries they deserve!

Miss Bindergarten would love to see this musical made from her classroom experiences. In the show she plays guitar! How cool is that?

Miss Bindergarten I hear this answer all the time when ask students what they want to be when they grow up: I want to be a teacher! It is a hard but joyful profession.

One of the jobs kids see being performed most often is teaching, so it's no surprise that many kids want to be teachers when they grow up. I looks like such a fun job! You get to be up in front of the class deciding what everybody does when and making the rules as you please. ...

Miss Bindergarten When Miss Bindergarten was still a dog, Ashley drew her with her family while the children made Thanksgiving "turkeys" out of an apple, a dozen toothpicks strung with raisins for neck, wings and tail, a green olive for the head, complete with pimento stuffing pulled out to form the "gobble." Challenging for 5 year olds..., but fun and completely edible.

We read the book Stone Soup and have our own Thanksgiving feast based on the book. Each student donates something feast - vegetables, bread, turkey or pumpkin pie. They love the idea of sharing and having a feast together. We make Pilgrim and Native American paper hats/ headdresses to wear at our feast and invite parents into join us.

Miss Bindergarten This crossed my desk and I am wondering what teachers think about how children with disabilities are depicted in books. It seemed natural to include a lion in a wheelchair since "Lenny Loom say Vroom, Vroom, Vromm." Kiki wears glasses and some people think Ian is autistic. What are your favorite books that include characters with special needs?

I would think teachers would be grateful. Can extend that to even cases such as Ferdinand the Bull. A great classic.

I was brought up on Aesop's fables. No one had physical handicaps... just mental ones. And I loved them.
