From Lucia Mauro--Chicago Tribune:

"The most revelatory performance belonged to Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak in 'Stamina of Curiosity: Our Strange Elevations,' where a quintet of distinctly individual dancers seemingly moved as one molecular force in an alternate universe of movement generated not by their limbs but by some place deep in the gut. The piece, also guided by breathing, moved the dancers across the floor in a cyclone of unfurling wrists. They un-self-consciously swirled around and jousted with the air in impeccably ordered chaos."

Judy Collins knocked it out of the park last Saturday night. Those of you who packed the Pitman know that she may very well be in the best voice of her 50 year career. Check out what some of you had to say and join in the conversation on Odd & Audacious.

Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak Considering a Chicago-Milwaukee road trip? Please join us as we wrap up our two-week creation residency on the Pitman Theater stage with Stamina of Curiosity: Our Strange Elevations. We are honored to be a part of the 50th Anniversary Season of Alverno Presents, Milwaukee's longest-running performing arts series.

Fro...m the Alverno Presents Season Brochure:
Alverno Presents has a proud history of presenting extraordinary artists on the cusp of important careers. Merce Cunningham was only the first.

Molly is in the midst of a remarkable journey. She founded Mad Shak in 1994 and for ten years was prolific in the creation of ensemble work. In 2004, she began a radical reconsideration of and paring of her practice. First to go was the ensemble, as she focused for several years on solo work.

Next to be eliminated was traditional movement that led with the arms, legs and head, as Molly began exploring a choreography originating in the body's core – ribs, stomach, pelvis. The result? Dance that not only beguiles with breathtaking sensuality but also stuns with rare emotional availability.

"Stamina of Curiosity" continues her process of drawing the most intimate thoughts through every fiber of the body until they burst forth in shockingly honest movement. This is the first time she has placed this ongoing exploration on an ensemble.

The Chicago Tribune lauds her work as an "ever-shifting mental striptease."

(Plus, if history is any indication, you will enjoy the bragging rights of "I saw her when.")
