i agree--a parent knows his/her child better then anyone, it's clear the author of the letter does think "kissing" is a sign of affection, but I feel it's inappropriate for 7 year olds to express their affection in this way. It's clear this little boy is beyond bright and has a very good command of his abilitly to articulate. Being "sexual" and being "sexualized" are 2 different things entirely. this is only my opinion, and understand that it is in the minority.

My son was always so affectionate with his best friend (who is a girl) from the time they were babies & toddlers, but she didn't always welcome his hugs. (They are still best friends at age 8.) Back then, he would want to hug her so often, I finally taught him to ask her permission to hug her, and if she says no... well... not to early to learn "No... Read More means NO" and then he would back off. Every situation is unique. The parents involved really have to decide how much they may or may not need to intervene here.

Mom Life I
knew that my son, who is in first grade(!) had made a card for a girl in his
class, but I didn't see it. Well, he apparently gave it to her and her
Mom just sent me a picture of it. Dear Lord, the child is 7! I know
it is innocent, but referencing kissing? What in the world do I do?

Mom Life Going to New York to film Rachael Ray seems like a dream. Barb and I had a two day whirl wind experience last week. The weird thing is, I was so busy trying not to feel bloated that I didn’t get nervous! But damn that sushi dinner and beer the night before. So now that the episode is airing next week(!!), I'm kind of nervous. What did I say? How did I look? OMG, am I going to look bloated?? -Jen

Mom Life My husband and I have had a lot of discussion about getting the H1N1 vaccine for our girls and we've decided against. What did you decide? Check out this article from Dr. Oz on how to prevent the flu -- Barb

We decided against it...and now I've spent the whole week trying to work from home while caring for an H1N1 infected child. On the other hand, I don't think it's been any worse than other viruses we've had.
