I like how you put that, same seems to hold for dominate cultures & their minorities. To my mind, this is neither genetic or inate but culturally determined & the most base of human nature vs the more noble aspects--as it is a learned trait, so is the same w/'earthly nobility' aspect of human nature!

Ahmed Moor writes: "Jewish people who are critical of Israel are right to question what Israel means to them as Jews. “Not in my name” is a solid basis for taking issue with the often-criminal behavior of the Zionist Israeli government. But it is not enough to eventually heal the rift between the Jewish and Palestini...an peoples. A purely Jewish focus on a more-than-Jewish problem causes many leftist Jews to take a paternalistic view of Palestinians. Rather
than equals whose inalienable rights form the crux of the case against
Zionism, the Palestinians are the clay of Jewish humanism, waiting to
be fully actualized by thoughtful and reflective Jewish hands. Instead
of insisting that Palestinians are human beings whose existence is the
repudiation of Zionism, some Jews on the left argue that Zionism
violates Jewish ethics. I am not suggesting
that the two streams of thought are mutually exclusive, only that the
focus on one may inhibit the realization of the other."

The people effected by zionism are not just Jews and Palestinians....
Americans, the overwhelming majority of which, are neither of these two groups, are having their resources drained in battles in the mideast because of the strangle hold that the Israel Lobby has on their government....
Attempts at debating questions relating to Israel are stifled by the lobby, which in effect erodes further what democracy Americans have left....
They have a big stake in the battle against zionism..

Chomsky, unfortunately downplays the role of the Israel Lobby in making foreign policy, and he insists on a 2 state solution..why? to preserve the 'Jewish State'??
at the expense of the people he knows were thrown off their lands by the terror of the Jewish militants in 48..
He also terms the Palestinan Right of Return..'unrealistic'

EXCERPT: " ...We have become increasingly concerned at the ways in which scholarly critics of Israeli policy have been cavalierly and maliciously misrepresented, mostly through ad hominem attacks on their characters, reputations, and careers. We are troubled also by the ways in which academic programs-most notably Middle East Studies programs at major universities-are being attacked as bastions of irresponsible radicalism and anti-American activity. Our concern has been heightened especially in view of the outside pressure being brought to bear on university administrations, some of which seem to have yielded to coercion, even while trying to 'balance' calls for responsibility with commitments to academic freedom. Some senior university administrators seem willing to take for granted the misrepresentations and fabrications by boisterous supporters of Israel, and have done so merely on the strident assertion of those making these claims..."
