Monterey Jazz Festival Artist-In-Residence update: Here is a live broadcast from the famed Village Vanguard in New York City by MJF/51 Artist-In-Residence, Christian McBride, with his "Inside Straight" group -- which was so named after their performance on the Jimmy Lyons stage at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 2008. Thank you to NPR and WBGO!

www.npr.org
What do you do when you're one of the world's top bassists, adept in all styles related to jazz, and you get a craving to play the Vanguard again? If you're Christian McBride, you assemble a top-notch, straight-ahead acoustic quintet specifically for the purpose.

Monterey Jazz Festival Oakland Examiner's Brian McCoy has a wrapup of MJF/52 in this article from 9/21/09.

The sweetest, saddest day of the year – the Monday after the Monterey Jazz Festival.Sweet for any number of reasons, most notably that you wake up in foggy Monterey with the Sunday night session still ringing, so to speak, in your ears. ...

Monterey Jazz Festival And another late one from MJF/52, David Becker for the Bay Area Jazz Examiner, from 9/21/09. Brubeck, Wynton, Toshiko Akiyoshi.

Yes, jazz needs new blood to remain vital. But I've never been more appreciative of the value of seasoned pros than after enduring some of the Monterey Jazz Festival's grating stabs at modernism.

Monterey Jazz Festival Here is an article I missed from MJF/52, from the Monterey Bay Restaurant Examiner, with a focus on all the food on the grounds!

www.examiner.com
The Monterey Jazz Festival food venues kept the party going while guests roamed from one music scene to another. The first night there were long lines in front of the Cuban/Caribbean kitchens and the Chowder Mobile, which never seemed to hurt for attention.
Robert Daggett

Robert Daggett I am doing a paper on the event and i was wondering. Who organizes the event? How many personnel are required for a successful event?
