Kathleen Noticed 'Precious' isn't showing around here. Any chance it'll come to the Capri?

It's a platform release. According to Rave's online schedule, it is supposed to open there on Nov 20, which I'm guessing is the wide date.

Did you really think we had a chance at that once it was retitled "Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry present..." ;>

The Way We Get By
With Filmmakers Gita Pullapilly and Aron Gaudet

The SXSW Special Jury Award winning The Way We Get By is a deeply moving film about life and how to live it. Beginning as a seemingly idiosyncratic story about troop greeters — a group of senior citi...zens who gather daily at a small airport to thank American soldiers departing and returning from Iraq — the film quickly turns into a moving, unsettling and compassionate story about aging, loneliness, war and mortality.Read More

“'The Way We Get By' is not so much a slice of life as the whole pie, the highs and lows of twilight living, all found and filmed in a terminal at an airport in Maine. What a country.”

Wheelchair bound, without a larynx, and diagnosed with a life-threatening aortic aneurysm, Dr. Sharadkumar Dicksheet now lives only (and barely) so he can travel to India to perfo...rm free operations in marathon-like surgery sessions where up to 700 children receive treatment for their cleft lips and other deformities. Although Dicksheet survives off of social security while living in his Brooklyn apartment, his life is drastically different in India where the eight-time Nobel Prize nominee is treated like a living god. Flying On One Engine shows how this quirky, funny, and sometimes difficult character overcomes his own ailments by helping others.Read More

R.E.M. – This Is Not A Show – Live at the Olympia in Dublin

R.E.M., Warner Bros. Records, and Cinema Purgatorio present “This Is Not A Theatrical Release,” limited sneak preview screening...s of the upcoming R.E.M. un-concert documentary This Is Not A Show: Live at the Olympia in Dublin.

In their acclaimed 2007 “working rehearsals” in Dublin, R.E.M. set up camp at the venerable Olympia Theatre in Ireland’s capital city and tested new material over five nights before passionate, capacity crowds.

Music at the show was produced by Dublin native Jacknife Lee who, along with R.E.M., co-produced Accelerate, the album which emerged from these shows. “Live At The Olympia” gives fans an opportunity to hear those songs at their earliest stages of development.

In addition to the new material, the band also served up several songs from across their nearly thirty year career.

The documentary This Is Not A Show, directed by Vincent Moon and Jeremiah, premiered in late September 2009 at the Sound Unseen festival in Minneapolis. It runs approximately sixty minutes – definitely not enough for a “theatrical” release.

Regular ticket prices will apply for this show.
