Xanthe worked at Harbour Dive instructing for a couple of seasons before heading North to Cairns to focus on her underwater photography career. We are thrilled that Xanthe has offered to hold a workshop for us here at Harbour Dive and share her wealth of knowledge and experience.
The workshop will run over two days and is flexible enough to cater to all skill levels of photography. It will incorporate:
• Gear Maintenance
• Elements of good photography
• Basic rules and the best ways to break them
• Mastering the basic shots, then adding a wow factor
• Digital download and workflow, including storing and sharing files.
Day 1 – Morning session in the classroom, lunch then dive, afternoon download and discuss / dissect.
Day 2 – One hour theory, dive, discuss and lunch, dive, afternoon slideshow of everyone’s favourite images.
For the beginner, this course will teach you how to look after your gear and avoid expensive mistakes. How to come back from dives with more than just photos of fish tails and a better understanding of photography.
For the more advanced photographer it will cover lighting techniques (including strobe use), build and expand on your current knowledge, provide an opportunity to improve photos and develop new techniques.
Requirements:
• Your own camera (one unit will be available for hire at $50 per day)
• Your own dive gear (gear may be hired at normal hire rates)
• Newly certified divers are welcome but must have developed good buoyancy and be comfortable in the water
