Mother-in-Law, Son-in-Law book launch party, Bungalows & Bears, Division St, Sheffield, Sat March 21st, 2pm-5pm

Mother-in-Law, Son-in-Law
Book launches always look to me to be dull dry crusty events with the author sitting in front of a pile of books in a bookshop and a queue of people patiently waiting for their book to be signed. Well even though I'm a complete freaking narcissist even the idea of this bores the pants off me.
I want to gather together ...as many creative people as possible so that they can network and meet new friends and contacts, leading to potentially creative collaborations down the line.
Ralph Razor, who is nothing short of a Sheffield legend already, will be DJing some suitable music of his choosing.
The Peekaboo Burlesque girls will be handing out bookmarks from a tray (like cigarette girls used to) and there will be several photographers covering the event, so far Dan Sumption, Pixelwitch Jaqs and Kerri Ridley. I'm hoping to persuade a filmmaker friend to archive the event, although we're inviting Calendar and Look North to cover it as well. The local Sheffield press have already said they will be in attendance.
I will be signing copies of my novel Mother-in-Law, Son-in-Law (with a fountain pen although I'm not buying a MONTBLANC until I get in the Amazon top 100) which you can buy from Amazon at the following link:

There will be a few books for sale on the day.
As we're hoping for lots of creative people to turn up, don't forget to bring your business cards, luvvies!
We're hosting this at Bungalows and Bears which is a pretty chilled place, and holding it during the afternoon in the spirit of one of my favourite clubs of all time, The Crazy Daisy, which used to open on a Saturday afternoon, and was the club where Phil Oakey found Joanne and Susan.
I hope as many of you can be here as possible so that this can be a memorable occasion and fun for everyone, rather than me swanning around going "I'm an author doncha know!"
Although I may do that once.

> Gotta say fat one you gotta a real talent for getting your thoughts on paper, ain't easy: )
Thanks Johny. I've reposted this on the wall rather than leave it on a wall to wall where other people can't read it.
It wasn't, and isn't, easy, writing erotic fiction. I still have regular heebeegeebees about the fact the boo...k is out there.
More than one person has told me they feel they've now had sex with me and I think people don't understand that this is a work of fiction which I've had to research to write. The characters in the book have a far more exciting time than I do, LOL. Although when I said to a friend on giving them a copy of the book "I'm sure there's nothing in there you've not done" and they looked at me levelly and said "I'm sure there's nothing in there *you* haven't done you mean." I did chuckle...
> Amandas face when she's reading it is priceless xx
...you're not the first man to say that, either.
Well you are about Amanda, I presume! ;)Read More

A thread about the profile shot for this page (the lame censored cover version) is taking place on the photo comments trail here:

Blooming heck, navigating facebook is like driving round Brum city centre in the rush hour :(

Mother-in-Law, Son-in-Law Thanks Haley, only just seen your comment! :)

Back in May 2008 I announced at Sheffield's premiere open mic night, Words Aloud, that I was half way through writing a new book whose title was still under wraps - this book was to become Mother-in-Law, Son-in-Law. I wrote it in 3 months and formed a new publishing company, Fleur De Lys Publishing Ltd, in order to pub...lish this and other future books.
