Motherland God said this is our land (Africa), land in which we flourish as people...we want our cattle to get fat on our land so that our children grow up in prosperity; and we do not want the fat removed to feed others.-- Jomo Kenyatta (kenya)(1894 - 1978)

Motherland Why do incompetence, substandard and unprofessionalism seem to shadows African peoples work ethic? Late, untidy, bad communication, dispassionate. Forever running around with excuses with a justification for everything 2nd rate. Mentally we think, “any old thing is acceptable” this is something we need to change and make quality and professionalism integral parts of our outlook.

It is said;"He lays down two, but one He will take away." It has always been that way, throughout hu-man history. Not even our children and siblings, will see the light, like you received it. The light (truth). This is a bipolar country, we got to be prepared to fight our own children. It's sad.

A good rule of thumb when recognizing a true Black man or woman is what have they done or what are they doing for their people. If you simply look at their wealth, fame, the fact that they gave some Blacks jobs or even hold a position as President you are looking at the wrong things to recognize a Black man or woman.

Motherland frica's biggest problem today lies with the leadership. They are so removed from the people that they are looked upon as foreigners. They are driven by self-interest, so excessive that their peoples' interests are forgotten -- hardly different from the colonial masters

true victor cuz we have this habit of saying "it is him over there" but finding exotic justification 4 our own ills. We must put that litmus test 2 our actions 2 insure we r building & not destroying. 1 way is to promote accountablity and peer review.

Everything happens according to design. While the African holocost was the greatest of human tragedies, there is compelling evidence the ancients knew what was coming and opted to go to sleep so those divided by tribal distinctions would be forced to amalgamate in order for their descendants to possess a broader geneti...c memory. Our history goes back thousands of years beyond the slave trade and the achievements of our ancestors need to be recognized.Read More

One thing is for sure there is no people on this planet that have (from a Holocaust) produced such a diverse culture. Out of our Holocaust we have Jazz, Reggae, Kaiso, Blues, steel drum, Gospel, Soul, all kinds of food, hip hop, the most diverse dance, style, ebonics, so much that makes us distinct. The challenge is to leave the changes and continue this cultural revolution and economic progress.

Don't forget House music, I recently went into my 80's and early 90's collection and rediscovered a myriad of songs I didn't recognize at the time as speaking from an African Heart. Being older I understand how much of an impact what we absorb has on our subconscious. I believe it may be one of the chief reasons I awakened in this decade. Happily,my step daughter is doing much better in school due in part I think to her developing interest in her ancestry. Onward and upward, always in all ways:)

Motherland Traditional African rulers should apologise for the role they played in the slave trade, a Nigerian rights group has said in a letter to chiefs--The bbc reports. You couldnt have a Jewish Holocaust without sell-outs, you coulnt have a Native American Holocaust without sell-outs.

you want modern day rulers to apologize for something their predecessors did? It wasn't them, it was the people before them. However, if they apologize for that, there is a hell of a lot of apologizing to be done on all National fronts considering the topic of genocide and mass murder.

according to the logic of this Nigerian rights group, i suppose the traditional leaders of North America, South America, the Caribbean, Australia, Pacific Islands, and every other country in Africa etc should also apologize for being just as greedy as all the other 'chiefs' (human nature) and not fully understanding the true nature of the business ... Read Moresystem they were participating in...what is quite startling is that the very naked truth of the matter is that all of these indigenous peoples were systematically destroyed using similar tactics by invading peoples from one region in particular...Western Europe...unfortunately it's that simple...it's also important to note that our leaders (traditional and political) are still selling us off today...to the very same groups of people (with some new ones added such as USA, China etc)...when we put the whole story together we see one common theme...it's not to say that there aren't bad people amongst every people and that Africans are not capable of oppressing other Africans but the main issue I believe is the scale of the problem and the pernicious nature of the perpetrators...never stopped and probably won't stop any time in the near future...unless....

the response to this realization is not perhaps anger and hatred towards people who are raised and trained within their education system to perpetuate a 'culture of economy' that has been passed onto them (ie the concept of superiority and invincibility)...but perhaps for us as a people to first work internally and to understand what our collective weaknesses are (overextended hospitality, narrow identities, disconnected economies, witchcraft, super materialism, classism, narrow perception of global affairs)...what made us vulnerable in the past (being scattered geographically, underdeveloped scientifically)...what are the security threats now being faced globally and what nations/peoples are the origin of these security threats (no comment)...to help each other to understand our spiritual and political reality clearly (ie being soul conscious and Black conscious)...to broaden our ethnic and family identities...and perhaps to help progressive European youth to understand and fight against the criminality that has become part of the culture handed down to them by their ancestors...i would rather all of these things before any of our 'leaders' apologize for a global problem that's clearly not yet over...

Motherland Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most, that has made it possible for evil to triumph. - Haile Selassie

So who are we NOT to pick up the spear and rush to the frontline immediately, as we too many times have put forward lame excuses for non-action, cushioned ourselves in our fears and galavanted in self-proclaimed ignorance. Nonsense must stop - from within!
