Funny, I thought the event I went to in September with the ribbon cutting and all that stuff was the opening.
In any case it is an amazing facility. Even though i spent a lot of time that Sunday poking around the whole place, i want to experience it with it full of students and see and listen and feel their interactions in the building.

That was a great event on Saturday night. The building is magnificent. Breathtaking. The alumni team did an amazing job putting the evening together. For those who have yet to see the building, you must go see it.

NMH is having a "banner year" with regards to college acceptances! http://www.nmhschool.org/news/academics_ news.php#grad
Jeff at 9:18am April 6
Yes, congrats to all on ur first step to discovering what u don't want to spend ur life doing.
Peter at 12:04pm April 7
Getting accepted is only the first half-step - the door has been opened but you still have to step in. While NMH has a lot of support behind its students, the next levels increasingly call on the student to be more self-reliant. I hope the trend in acceptances means NMH graduates have been found to be able to thrive as they take on more ... Read Moreresponsibility for their educations, and that while they learn both inside and outside the classroom they are also contributing to the learning of others by being there.

When did it become the Hoggers??? OK I'll show my age, I graduated in 1981. I don't think we even had a mascot back then and if we did it definately wasn't the Hoggers. That I would certainly remember:)
Peter at 12:18pm April 7
Prior to fall 71 we were simply 'Red', or 'Big Red'. Deerfield was 'Green'. Exeter was "that Prep school' (which referred to the dirty laundry chute from that institution straight to Harvard). I can't think of any school that we referred to by a mascot of any kind - it was as if the prep schools were all above that. And while the rhetoric amped... Read More up a bit for certain weekends, contests were generally kept at the level of 'games'.
While I do not know the actual source of the term "Hogger" the campus was referred to as "The Hog" by 1968, at least by a few students, and by late 1969 the term was in general use. I also do not know how the mascot became "Hoggers", but it did start with the merged NMH in fall 1971. Did students vote on it? Did faculty or administration simply take a term from general use and add it to the school athletic uniforms? I don't know.
