Big news! The screening of Ironman at Tibbetts Brook has been re-scheduled!
Even though the previous party was cancelled because of rain, residents will still have the opportunity to enjoy an after-hours barbecue and showing of the hit film Ironman (2009, PG-13) on Thursday, August 13.
Party starts at 7 p.m.; bbq runs ti...l 8:30 p.m.; movie at sundown. Bring blankets/chairs.
Admission is $10 per person for age 3 and up. Wristbands go on sale at the pool on the day of the party. No Park Pass required.

Wednesday, August 5th, young people ages 13 to 15 are invited to a Teen Pool Party from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Teens can enjoy swimming until dusk and dancing to DJ music.
Admission is $5 per person, payable at the door the night of the event.
A Park Pass is not required for entry, but visitors must show proof of residenc...y and age with a school ID, report card, or Park Pass.

Sunday, August 2nd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saxon Woods hosts DJ & Barbecue Day, where visitors can dance or swim to the latests hits played by a DJ on the pool deck.
Throughout the afternoon, the snack bar will feature a barbecue special with a chicken and ribs plate for $7 per person.

The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra will perform music that spans the decades, from 18th century opera to 20th century pop, as they conclude this season’s “Midsummer Night Music” concert series on Saturday, August 1, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
The orchestra will perform a ...program of “Light Classics,” with something for everyone to enjoy. Selections will range from a rousing performance of popular classics like Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” and Strauss’ lilting “Blue Danube Waltz, to more contemporary 20th century favorites like Glenn Miller’s romantic “Moonlight Serenade” and Frank Sinatra’s famous mantra “My Way.”
A highlight of the night’s program will be a performance by cellist Madeleine Bouissou, winner of the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra concerto competition, during the orchestra’s performance of David Popper’s “Hungarian Rhapsody.”
Tickets: $15 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 and seniors.
Admission is free for children under age 6.
Tickets will be sold at the gate on the evening of the performance.
The gates open at 5 p.m. for picnicking; the music begins at 6 p.m.

A salute to the brass and percussion section, with works that highlight these two dramatic aspects of the orchestra.
Tickets will be sold at the gate on the evening of the performance.

“Midsummer Nigh Music"... concludes on Saturday, August 1, with “Light Classics.”
The evening kicks off with “Fanfare for the Common Man” by renowned American composer Aaron Copland, followed by Joan Tower’s Copland-inspired “Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman,” and a rousing rendition of John Williams’ theme from the Superman film series. The program continues with Three Mexican Songs (traditional; Chavez), followed by Bach’s Cantata No. 119, “Preise, ....Jerusalem...., den Herrn” in a special arrangement for percussion. French composer Paul Dukas’ “Fanfare from La Peri” impressionistic ballet follows, with several selections from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story bringing the evening’s program to a dramatic climax.

A host of crowd-pleasing popular songs will be the featured fare when the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra performs “Broadway and Hollywood Favorites,” featuring Tony Award-winning soloist Debbie Gravitte, on Saturday evening, July 18, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
