This is a blog for TEACHERS WHO ROCK and are frustrated by the day to day drama that gets in the way of our interactions with children. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but sometimes a girl has gotta vent...

This is one of the most hilarious, true-to-life books about teaching that I have ever read. As a middle school teacher I could totally relate to the antics of the kids and now my Super Colleagues are running out to buy the book. I even used it as a read-aloud in my 8th grade ELA class (leaving out the "spicy" parts, of course). The kids keep asking me when we can read Mrs. Mimi again!!! Keep up the great work- you ROCK Mrs. Mimi!!!

Alysia Gibson Jenkins

Alysia Gibson Jenkins I've been out of the Flowers and Sauasages loop for awhile so I have to ask how/if you are able to keep your identity confidential/hidden with the book publishing? If your identity is well known now, how does that affect your working relationships and climate?

Erica

Erica The reading yesterday was great!

Merika Campbell

Merika Campbell So, will this become a book tour? Like to Ohio? Cleveland is nice...

Natalie

Natalie Here is a quesrion my students have been struggling with. I am kn my second year of teaching and teach 6th grade (it is still elementary school where I am from). If a student were to ask you why they should read, what would you tell them? My students all read well enough to get by if they needed to (reading signs and things like that), but why should it be important to them to read outside of school assignments?

Wow. Lots of typos there, sorry! My computer is incapacitated so I wrote that from my phone.

I teach 6th, 7th, 8th graders LA. I tell my kids that they need to read to be citizens of the world. Reading is the key to anywhere they want to go - in life, in school, in the world. Everyone reads and it is how you can connect to every other person on the planet. Not sure if they buy it........but it's worth a shot!
