Oh dear! I believe there's a 'good fit' teacher for every school. That's the most important aspect for me anyways. I work where there's place, not necessarily where I would best fit with the community and philosophy of the school... It's also important not to intimidate parents in a way that the won't or can't approach you! Okay, done!!

Mrs. Mimi is thinking about punching anyone who believes teachers don't deserve to sell their own original lesson plans for a bit of extra cash on the side. You know, typical Monday stuff...

This is a blog for TEACHERS WHO ROCK and are frustrated by the day to day drama that gets in the way of our interactions with children. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but sometimes a girl has gotta vent...

Heather I loved your book, and have enjoyed reading your blog. As a teacher, you are my inspiration. I also taught 2nd grade at one point. Thank you for being our voice.

Thanks for reading AND for your kind words, Heather! I'm sad you left 2nd grade (second graders rock!) but hope you are happy where you are now.

Mrs. Mimi Why does teaching 20 people how to read feel easier than sitting alone with a big old pile of data and a looming dissertation?? Maybe not "easier", just way more fun.

Maybe you should record some classroom "white" noise to play those times you need to get work done. We seem to accomplish so much even with that "hum" in the classroom. (I suggest the sound of the other students while you are assessing a student one-on-one.)

This is one of the most hilarious, true-to-life books about teaching that I have ever read. As a middle school teacher I could totally relate to the antics of the kids and now my Super Colleagues are running out to buy the book. I even used it as a read-aloud in my 8th grade ELA class (leaving out the "spicy" parts, of course). The kids keep asking me when we can read Mrs. Mimi again!!! Keep up the great work- you ROCK Mrs. Mimi!!!

Alysia Gibson Jenkins I've been out of the Flowers and Sauasages loop for awhile so I have to ask how/if you are able to keep your identity confidential/hidden with the book publishing? If your identity is well known now, how does that affect your working relationships and climate?
