At my old firm, no one bothered bragging about billable hours under 300 for the month.

The gross over-billing in hours per month is not limited to the woman lawyer trying to prove themselves. I know a firm who so pressured all lawyers that one younger partner got caught by a client billing 24+ hours per day over 30+ days one year. The managing partner actually had a report generated showing total billable hours per day for each ... Read Morelawyer, and the guy's hours were there plain as day -- someone even sent his year's report to the client out of spite. The client stopped sending business thereafter. Keep up the good work, Ms. JD!!

The interesting thing to me is that her mother-in-law lives with them, and takes care of the children while she works long hours. I think that 1/1000 biglaw moms have that luxury. Most would be spending 2 hours a day shuttling kids to and from babysitters/daycare/after school groups. She essentially has a live-in nanny. Maybe that's why they made the kids older - to avoid that issue.
