CULTURE
Kun Seng Keng (关圣宫) has been entitled as world champion for 20 times in the world renowned International Championship for Lion Dance.
FOOD
One of the most well-known local food in Muar is 'Otak-Otak' (乌打). Muar also started the boxed/rectangular cube version of it.
Fried Oyster Omelette aka 'o jian' (蚝煎) is one of the Muar's food trademark. Never judged too early on this dish based on where u had tried elsewhere until u try the best version of it in Muar.
Muar Bah Kut Teh (肉骨茶) is unique because it has its own versions. These diverse cook style are developed by different outlets individually. Most importantly, each of these is delicious on its own character.
Muar Wan Tan Mee (云吞面) is a very popular dish in Muar. You can get plenty version of it. They taste as good. Some outlets serve it during/until midnight.
The famous Muar Hainanese Chicken Riceball (鸡粒饭) is an authentic local cuisine. It was originated among Muar Hainanese but not as many thought which it is from Melaka.
Muar Asam Fish (巴冬亚参鱼) is another luscious local cuisine that once u had it, u always dream of it.
The Prawn Noodles (虾面) which known as 'Hey Mee' in Hokkien is cooked in the different way compared to the other parts of the country. Instead of serving it as a soup, in Muar they prepared it dry.
Other famed Chinese food/snack includes Muar Fried Kuey Teow (炒粿条), Jui Keh (水粿), Mee Hun Keh (面粉糕), Duck Mee (鸭肉面), Keh Chap (粿什) etc and the list goes on and on.
There are lots of famous Malay/Indian/Javanese foods/snacks that u can easily find in Muar, such as Mee Bandung Muar, Mee Rojak, Mi Siput, Lontong, Mee Soto, Fruit Rojak, Mee Rebus, Roti Canai, Ikan Bakar, Satay, Cendol, Apam Balik etc just to mention a fews.
PLACE
Tanjung Emas (黄金丹绒), the scenic, beautiful riverfront recreational park is one of the most popular local leisure spot, especially for early morning/late afternoon joggers and teenage couples. There are groups of wild monkeys in the area only known to the local. Casual feeding to these cute creatures has formed part of the culture here.

COMMERCE
Muar is known as the furniture capital of Malaysia. It has more furniture factories than any other towns or cities in Malaysia not mentioning its top quality rate among the industry.
Kopi 434 aka Sai Kee (才记) Coffee is best known in the country for its coffee products. It starts serving the local its best brew since 1953.
Yong Sheng Confectionary (荣成礼坊/饼家), the leading manufacturer of cakes, mooncakes, biscuits, pastries, gift hampers etc is established and based in Muar since 1952.
Yuen Chen Siang (源珍香) Muar is another famous business brand that based on food industry. It was founded on 1969. The tasty roast meat and meat floss are always the must have snack for the many especially during chinese new year.
Other famous local food & beverage brand includes Ayam A1 & The Baker's Cottage, both as subsidiaries of Leong Hup Holdings Bhd, Kim Leng Cafe and a lots more.
HISTORY
Parameswara, founder of the Malacca empire, had established a settlement at Pagoh, Ulu Muar upon his exile from Temasik before proceeding to Melaka. Muar has been an important place since decades ago and is rich in history.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Sultan Ismail Bridge bridges 2 part of the town across the Muar River. It is an important historical bridge and landmark for Muar town since 1962.
Muar Second Bridge is the new 632 metre semi-harp cable-stayed bridge with a 132 metre mid-span across Muar River. Construction was completed on 2003.
