I also remember a Halloween show where for some reason Fritz didn't show up. Sue and Sally did their songs but something was obviously missing when the band did some of Fritz's songs without the lead. I was hanging out near the stage and thinking to myself, "Hey, I know most of the words; I could jump up there and fill... in for Fritz." But then I thought, "well, they don't really know me; we haven't rehearsed; that might not go over so well." So I decided against it. I still don't know if I missed a chance at launching a whole new career move or if I saved myself from severe injury from getting booted off the stage. Ah, the road not taken . . . .
One of my favorite Mutants' lines: "The King of Rock and Roll just died; I don't care, it served him right . . . ." That took some courage to be singing that in 1977. Bravo!Read More

Glad I found you guys. The best San Francisco band of the punk scene, late 70s-80s. Lots of memories; lots of great shows. I don't know if you remember this but I was responsible for getting the band an unusual daytime outdoor performance at a big antiwar protest in Dolores Park sometime around 1984 (?). It was one of ...those Peace, Jobs and Justice rallies against U.S. intervention in Central America, with tens of thousands marching, and I wanted the peace movement to hear the message and music of this great band. It was one of my favorite memories of San Francisco. Somebody in the band learned some Spanish and did an introduction in Spanish. Fritz spoke out about Bobby Sands and the "blanket people" on hunger strike in Northern Ireland. The band sounded GREAT in the big outdoors of the park. When "Opposite World" rang out, with that great hook, people you wouldn't expect to see dancing started rocking out, of all ages and ethnicities.Read More

I was primarily shooting pictures of the moving variety during this Goner Fes. When I had the chance I took some photographs of the electronic kind. Photographs taken in the either-born to live and die never knowing physicality. ...

Andrew McCarthy You are the best!

David Goldberg I'm playing Too Much Too Soon. It's exactly enough.

Paul I've read the first 20 pages of Fritz's screenplay online. Is the rest of it posted somewhere? I'd love to read it.
